Training night info

Any extra info for training nights, such as location to meet will be added here.  Please check back regularly!

Coaches will lead a drills and warm up and then outline the session. Hill running is a great way to build leg strength, lung capacity and cadence into your running. By going off road, ankle stability is challenged as well as developing a strong core and activated glute muscles, to aid posture and strength.

Winter Hill Training

All hill training sessions will start from Driffield Leisure Centre at 7pm. If you prefer, you’re more than welcome to join us at the venue and start your session from there. We aim to offer a variety of options on the evening and coaches will tailor the length of the hill, time or pace depending on needs of the athletes attending. Please make a coach/leader aware if you have any injuries or issues that they may need to be aware of.

28th November – The hill session at Park Avenue will focus on some downhill running and the technical skills needed to maximise stability, quad strength and confidence.

Winter Runs

Tuesday night runs will start and finish at Driffield Leisure Centre at 7pm. The exception to this is the Nafferton Head torch runs. These will start in Nafferton. What3Words location is: deferring.oils.impose. There will be two routes of 5.9 and 2.8 miles. There will also be a Driffield around town option for those that don’t fancy the headtorch around Nafferton. The routes can be found here:  long and short.

Please remember that now the nights are drawing in, please be as bright as possible with reflective and hi-viz clothing and lights.

We will be offering tempo, progression and fartlek runs on selected Tuesdays up to Christmas.

Progressions runs are within winter route, with each mile being quicker by around 15-30 secs.

Tempo runs will be within winter route. They will be a set distance and pace and the group will stick together to achieve that goal.

Fartlek runs will be within winter route with the loops being run at a targeted quicker pace. You will recover to then run the next loop faster again. The group will stick together to support and ensure everyone is ready for the next effort.

They will be varying paces and distances depending on the coaches leading these runs.

Christmas Runs

Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve are morning runs. Partly due to the Leisure Centre being closed on an evening and most people are busy! Keep an eye on here for routes. They will also be posted on FaceBook and emailed to members.
